Botulinum Toxin – Relaxation for Facial Muscles
Botulinum toxin, commonly known as Botox®, has established itself in aesthetic medicine as an effective treatment for dynamic wrinkles. These wrinkles arise from repeated muscle movements, such as those that occur when laughing, frowning, or squinting. Over time, these movements can lead to permanent wrinkles, especially in areas like the forehead, around the eyes (crow’s feet), and between the eyebrows (frown lines).
How it works: Botulinum toxin is a protein that is precisely injected into the muscles. It blocks the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, which is responsible for muscle contraction. This blockade relaxes the treated muscles, which leads to the overlying skin smoothing out and wrinkles being reduced. The effect usually appears within a few days and reaches its full potential after about one to two weeks. The effect typically lasts 3 to 6 months, depending on individual reaction.
Applications: In addition to smoothing facial wrinkles, botulinum toxin can also be used to treat excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis). Furthermore, it is used for muscle spasms and migraines. An additional aesthetic benefit is the so-called “Chemical Brow Lift”, where the eyebrows are lifted to achieve a younger and more open appearance.
Hyaluronic Acid – Volume and Moisture for Youthful Skin
Hyaluronic acid is a natural component of our skin and is known for its ability to bind large amounts of moisture. As we age, the hyaluronic acid content in the skin decreases, leading to volume loss and the formation of wrinkles. Through injections with hyaluronic acid, these signs of aging can be effectively combated.
How it works: Treatment with hyaluronic acid aims to replace lost volume and improve skin structure. Hyaluronic acid is injected into the skin and draws water into the treated areas. This smooths wrinkles and gives the skin a fresh and youthful appearance. The effect is immediately visible and can be adjusted as needed to achieve a natural result.
Applications: Hyaluronic acid is excellent for volume restoration in various facial areas, such as cheeks, lips, and temples. It can be used to reduce nasolabial and marionette folds, as well as to improve the eye area. If necessary, a correction with Hylase can be performed to balance overfilling or undesirable results.
